Leslie Cuyjet is a performer and choreographer in New York. As a performer, she works with a range of artists from choreographers, performance artists, writers, photographers and musicians from professional modern dance companies as well as with independent artists and institutions. Her independent work as a choreographer blends the idea of memory and how we perceive notions of our current reality within the constitution of performance, within the mediums of dance, theater, and video. Cuyjet has worked with Bessie Award-winning choreographer Jane Comfort since 2005, as well as Meredith Monk, David Gordon, Cynthia Oliver, Mark Dendy, Tere O’Connor among, Vanessa Walters, Niall Noel Jones, and Emily Wexler, among others. Hailing from the Ohio Valley in Louisville, Kentucky, Leslie came armed with a B.F.A. in dance from the University of Illinois to New York in 2004. She currently lives in Brooklyn.. She is also left-handed and a member of the Park Slope Food Co-op.
